An ancient Indian study called “Jyothishya”, which can be traced back to thousands of years which studies the cosmic energies to understand and gain valuable knowledge. This explains the planetary motions and positions with respect to time and their effect on humans. Jyothishya is a science of life. There are 27 constellations, 12 zodiac signs, 9 planets and 12 houses with each planet representing several aspects of human life. Depending on the date, time and place a person is born, the zodiac signs are distributed among the 12 houses and 9 planets are placed in various houses.
This visual representation of the snapshot of the signs and planets is called a Horoscope. Vedic Astrology scientifically explained
As per this study, every happening is predetermined. A person’s life pattern, events, happenings are all “predestined” and “predetermined” - what we term as “Dharma” and “karma” - through the positions of the planets and stars the time of his birth. Vedic Astrology sheds light on the journey of the soul as it incarnated. This kind of Astrology , since it is predicting in nature is known as Predictive Astrology. The professional astrologer reads the birth chart and and can forecast the good and the bad phases in one’s life. He can also accurately predict the future events which may occur in the person’s life. In Hindu tradition, families usually have a “family priest” who would also have studied AStrology to a good extent and his blessings & advice are sought when the family is looking forward to perform any kind of tasks or functions related to the family members’ business, education, career, weddings and other auspicious functions.
Astrology depends on calculations with the help of Astronomy and Mathematics. Hindu Astrology and Western Astrology differ in a basic way since in the West, the predictions are based on the Sun sign, whereas Hindu Astrology depends on the Moon sign. A horoscope is drawn based on the position of the moon and Moon sign plays a major role in Vedic Astrology. The birth chart of the natal chart or the horoscope thus gives a deeper sense of the person’s traits, his future and the purpose. The lines on the hand also can to an extent predict, fairly accurately the person’s past life and future happenings.
Ancient Hindu literature is full of mythology related to zodiac signs, constellations (also known as Nakshatras or Stars) and planets, which explain a lot of astrological rules. Mythology was a method that our ancient sages and seers used to explain some very complex physical laws, which were beyond the comprehension of common people.
